Letter From The Editor
Who doesn’t love to travel during the summer months in Europe. It’s peak holiday season there now, and tourists from around the globe descend upon many of the magnificent old cities in search of culture, spectacular architecture, different food, and lots of new adventures.
This month’s travel feature, Budapest – A Gothic Tale (Part 2), by Dimitris Lyritzis, highlights the many facets this beautiful city has to offer. It takes us through wide cobbled streets with fabulous old buildings into the famous Great Central Market, one of Budapest’s most illustrious highlights. Plus, there’s lots more on offer in this interesting and informative feature.
Our special feature, Watch Out: Pollution Kills!, by Henrylito Tacio, highlights the dangers that each of us face almost every day. Henry writes. “Water is life,” the old proverb insists. Not in the Philippines, recent studies have shown. “Heavy inorganic pollutants have made water increasingly a threat to life,” here, according to a report released by the Manila-based Asian Development Bank (ADB) some years back. This informative feature reminds us that the more we know about problems, the better armed we are to deal with them,
Readers who are sports fans, will love this month’s Sporting Icons by Luke Johnston. It tells the story of Kirstie Elaine Alora, a Filipino taekwondo athlete who became one of the most experienced and successful competitors in the sport's history in the Philippines.
I hope that the winners of last month’s Enrich Giveaways have enjoyed spending their P1,000 Mercury Drug gift certificates. Check out our social media pages and have some fun entering - you might become one of this month’s lucky winners.
As always,JV Arnaldo
